I am pleased to announce that beginning September 2019, I am starting a consultancy for artists and arts practitioners.

Types of assistance I offer:

  • Writing - Grant proposals

  • Writing - Artist and project statements

  • Writing - Critical/curatorial and PR material

  • Positioning of practice and career mentorship

  • Project management guidance for large-scale, multi-phase projects.

  • Curatorial and critical feedback

I am especially interested in working with artists with hard-to-define practices (interdisciplinary, ephemeral, conceptual, socially engaged, etc), or who are experiencing a moment of transition in their work.  *During the pilot phase, I am offering very reasonable and flexible rates to select artists who identify with the above. If you are looking for help, please reach out to me, and let's see if we can come up with something that works for you.

In addition, I offer on-line one-on-one professional development sessions as a NYFA Coach. Individuals may sign up for 30 and 45-minute Skype consultations through the New York Foundation for the Arts. (New sign-ups available as of November 19).

As an artist with two decades of experience working for institutions as director, curator, fundraiser, and promoter of exhibitions and programs, I understand the side of the opportunity provider as well as the artist — and I have come to learn that my particular perspective can be a great resource for other artists.

For ten years, I was Founding Director of EFA Project Space program of the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (EFA), where I supported the work of over 500 artists and independent curators, produced over forty exhibitions, and hundreds of public events. My proudest accomplishment while at EFA was creating the unique  “SHIFT” Residency that nurtures the creative life-balance of artists who work for arts institutions in New York City: a concern close to my heart. For most of us, being an artist is a continually uphill process, for which there is no formula. There has certainly been no formula for my art practice, which combines media, research, storytelling, and performance! Building infrastructure and support around our creative practice is a life-long process. We are in this together!
